FIRST LEGO League

FIRST was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen with the purpose of inspiring young people's interest in science and technology.  We are excited to come alongside FIRST as coaches and mentors in this endeavor.

Forgiven Followers (2009)

Excited about this year’s theme, Smart Move, the Forgiven Followers from Timberlake Christian School placed 2nd in project presentation at the regional tournament and qualified for the state tournament which took place at James Madison University.  The team worked together to research innovative ways to “transform transportation” around the globe and to solve challenging missions during the robot game.

Team Superamus (2008)

Team Superamus was the first FLL team to form at Timberlake Christian School in Forest, VA and our first team to coach and mentor.  Team Superamus is sponsored by the Region 2000 Technology Council, and derives its name from the Latin for "We Overcome".  This rookie team had an outstanding season in 2008, advancing from the regional tournament to the state tournament at James Madison University.

Getting Involved

If you are interested, there are several different ways that you can get involved with FLL in your community.

  1. Start a Team
  2. Become a Mentor
  3. Become a Team, Event, or Program Sponsor
  4. Volunteer for an Event

Mentors and Coaches come from all types of backgrounds, both technical and non-technical.  This means that if you believe in the mission of FIRST, you are already equipped to start impacting the lives of students.  You can find out more about FIRST and all of these involvement options at USFIRST.org.
